Sand control
Sand control is of particular importance for the oil extraction process. The objective is to filter out the sandy sludge in the drill hole, to avoid bringing this to the surface unnecessarily. Our single layer, predominantly sintered meshes facilitate reliable sieving in the well.
Sand control is a vital consideration for both on and offshore oil extraction processes, to prevent contamination of the oil.
The location of the oil deposits for example the Gulf of Mexico, the Middle East or the North Sea, determines the nature of the sand and the particle sizes. To meet these differing requirements, we offer a wide choice of aperture sizes in roll form or as sintered laminates, which can then be fabricated into filter cylinders. The material of choice is stainless steel 316L or, for highly corrosive environments with a high salt content, 904L or special alloys.
The advantages of these wire meshes compared with slotted sieves is in the regular aperture sizes, achieved through the weaving process, as well as the stable construction, which results from sintering layers together. Our ability to use lasers to cut, form and weld these laminates accurately is the key to a consistent product.
- Regular apertures across the entire surface of the mesh
- Individual meshes for different types of sand
