Application Technology
Engineering
Irrespective of whether it concerns filtration, sieving, sizing, fluidisation, purification, screen printing or design, BOPP’s range of products and services target new designs, optimisation, redesigns or total replacement. Our objective is always to achieve premium results for the application.
Performance Challenges
We provide our customers with advice and support in defining the correct specification for the mesh to be installed, especially sintered laminates. During this intensive phase the feasibility of the relevant product is established in coordination with the customer’s production process. The objective is to arrive at a specification that is realistic and achievable, as well as cost-efficient.
Dimensioning, Shape, Surface Finish
Optimising a filter in terms of shape, filter surface and properties alongside ideal use of the available installation space places significant demands on our Engineering Department. We prioritise achieving a common denominator in terms of feasibility and the cost benefit ratio. We are subsequently happy to propose suggestions on the construction of the filter element.
Pressure Ratios, Angle of Inflow
The issues of pressure drop and energy efficiency in the filtration process are vitally important, particularly as a result of significant increases in energy prices impacting on our customers’ profit calculations, With the help of our Engineering Department, pressure drop can be reduced, the required filter surface defined and life cycles optimised.
Coatings
Suitable coatings mean the applications for our products can be extended even further. Over the years we have amassed a significant body of experience which is constantly being expanded in this fast-moving market.
Our range of coatings can be found here.
The Cost of Process Interruptions
Equipment standing idle is expensive and hides costs which must be taken into account when planning. Choosing the right mesh will reduce this downtime significantly. On the one hand, the installation of easily backwashable filter meshes and sintered laminates is critical, whilst on the other hand specifications with low pressure drops lead to more efficient filtration processes and therefore longer intervals between times when the filter must be repaired, cleaned or replaced.
If for example a filtration batch must be repeated three times because of increasing pressure drops, including the required filter cleaning processes, or if the entire filtration batch can be filtered or dried in a single process, this will have a significant impact upon the cost of filtration or drying processes for bulk materials.
