Coated meshes are incresingly popular. Although they are currently used mainly on our acoustic lines, there is potential for use in many other applications. Our range of coatings is divided into the technical HC8 and the design oriented PVD options. Combinations of the two are possible.
HC8 coated meshes increase performance in terms of protection against exterior influences without changing the pore sizes. This means that hydrophobic and oleophobic values are increased significantly.
The advantages of our HC8 coatings include:-
- Contact angles up to 145°
- Temperature resistance from -50 to 200 °C, temporarily up to 250 °C
- Chemical resistance
- UV resistance
- Colourless and odourless
- For classification purposes we use hydrostatic pressure testing, measured to EN ISO 811
- Up to 300mm roll widths or for fabricated parts
- Every coating process is carefully monitored
For design oriented applications, we use black single sided PVD coatings. This means our meshes integrate better into completed components or can be built unobtrusively into ports.
The advantages of our PVD coatings include:-
- The process does not affect the mesh characteristics
- Resistent to mechanical influences
- Other colours available on request
The coatings have no effect upon the workability of the meshes. Both HC8 and PVD coated meshes can be laser staked, ultrasonically welded, bonded up to 250°C, punched, caulked, formed, stamped, slit or injection moulded.
We continue to develop our range of coatings. We are also happy to investigate the potential for your own individual coating requirements.
